What is different for hospitals, clinics and diagnostic centres

  • Patient data passes through many hands: front desk, doctors, HIS, labs, pharmacy, TPAs and insurers. You are answerable for all of them.
  • Section 7 lets you treat patients in a medical emergency without consent, but routine care, research and marketing still need a proper notice and consent.
  • Health data hurts patients most when it leaks, and penalties for weak security safeguards go up to ₹250 crore.
